About Us
At Grains & Goods Farmstead we grow organic Red Fife wheat and rye, mill fresh stone-ground flours, and bake artisanal bread and treats using old-school methods and mostly organic ingredients sourced as locally as possible . We believe in grains as a healthy cornerstone of a vibrant, community-based local food culture.
Grains & Goods owner RolandJensch has always been fascinated by food. Born and raised in Germany, he also has a deep appreciation for the high quality bread he grew up with (his grandfather was a master baker). Everything at Grains & Goods is crafted with care and respect for the tradition of bread making.
Roland and his wife Liz have been living on her family farm near Sydenham since 2017, where they are working toward a self-sufficient lifestyle. As member of Slow Food International and the National Farmers Union, they are committed to supporting healthy agricultural practices and communities. When not in the kitchen or the field, you’ll find them getting muddy in the sandbox with their two young boys, tending to a small crew of chickens and goats, and putting down deep roots in this newfound home.
